Turn colleagues into crew with an exciting and accessible yacht-racing experience. No sailing experience is required, with professional skippers guiding every team.

2-4 hours | From $235pp | Groups of 14+ | Darling Harbour

A Simple and Exciting Introduction to Yacht Racing

The Bronze Regatta is our most accessible competitive sailing format and an exciting way to bring teams together on Sydney Harbour.

Your group is divided into crews across a fleet of luxury sailing yachts. Following a welcome and safety briefing, each crew learns the fundamentals of steering, sail handling, communication and race tactics under the guidance of our professional skippers.

Teams then compete across one or two races around a course designed for the conditions and event duration.

No previous sailing experience is required. Guests can take the helm, trim the sails, assist with navigation or support their crew at a level that suits their confidence and ability.

Bronze Regatta Frequently Asked Questions

Do participants need sailing experience?

No. The Bronze Regatta is designed to be accessible to complete beginners.

Every yacht has an experienced skipper and crew to provide a safety briefing, explain the sailing roles and guide participants throughout the event.

What is the best Bronze Regatta duration?

We recommend at least three hours for a complete Bronze Regatta experience.

A two-hour event suits groups with limited time, while three hours allows more time for instruction, practice and racing. A four-hour event provides the most substantial experience and is particularly suitable for larger groups.

How many people can attend?

A minimum of 14 participants is required for a multi-yacht Bronze Regatta.

Larger groups are divided across multiple yachts. The number and type of yachts required will depend on final attendance and fleet availability.

Smaller groups can contact Sydney By Sail to discuss suitable private sailing options.

How many races are included?

A Bronze Regatta normally includes one or two races.

The final number depends on the selected duration, weather, harbour conditions and the time required for briefing and sailing practice.

Can we include catering and beverages?

Yes. Catering and beverage packages can be added to your Bronze Regatta.

Options can be tailored to the event duration, group size, dietary requirements and preferred style. Non-alcoholic packages are also available.

What should participants wear?

Comfortable casual clothing and enclosed, non-marking shoes are recommended.

Guests should also bring sun protection, a warm layer and weather-appropriate outerwear. High heels are not suitable aboard the yachts.

What happens if the weather changes?

Sydney By Sail monitors the forecast and harbour conditions before every event.

The course or event format may be adjusted to suit the conditions. If the event cannot safely proceed, the organiser will be contacted to discuss the available options in accordance with the booking terms.

How do we secure our preferred date?

A 50% deposit based on estimated attendance is required to secure the yachts, skippers and event team.

Final attendance, catering and beverage selections, logistical arrangements and the remaining balance are due 21 days before the event.
